Flights

Costa Rica receives hundreds of flights monthly, and is very accessible. It has 2 main airports: Juan Santamaría International Airport (Code: SJO) is the country’s main airport, located in the capital city of San Jose. This airport is more centrally located and the primary airport you will use of traveling to the Southern part of the country. The second is Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia (Code: LIR). It is much smaller than the airport in San Jose and  mainly receives specific flights for tourists visiting Guanacaste, Monteverde and La Fortuna.

Best Time to Travel in Costa Rica

December is the peak season for visiting Costa Rica. Couples, families even solo travelers would like to spend their Christmas holidays in beautiful places and Costa Rica is one of them. February – March and April are high seasons due to spring break so a lot of students have school holidays which make for the best time to go out of country for travel. This is especially for families. High seasons are good where in you can expect that the weather will be totally great throughout your stay. Just be careful because the downsides of high season mean that you’ll have to spend a lot because prices are usually higher during these times due to higher demand.

If you’re open at traveling on low season, you can pretty much expect lower prices which is a good deal for a lot of travelers. Low season are during September to November. However, even if it’s rainy in other parts of Costa Rica, these are actually the months that you can expect lush green landscapes. So depending on where you will be traveling, this season might be a better option.
